Instead of one large panel, a sectional door is made up of horizontal sections, typically four or more, joined by steel hinges. It travels vertically without swinging out, so you can use your driveway right up to the edge of the opening, and its smooth, even movement suits manual and electric operation equally well.

Sectional Garage Doors for Bristol Homes

Sectional doors are increasingly popular on Bristol’s newer developments in Longwell Green, Emersons Green and Bradley Stoke, where modern integral garages are the norm. How Do Sectional Garage Doors Work?

Each section has its own rollers, which run in a track framework either side of the opening. As the door opens, the sections follow the track up and round a curve at the top, in line with the roof. Because the frame sits behind the door columns, the opening stays clear.

If headroom is tight, most models come with a low-headroom track option. It uses a tighter curve, so you lose a little headroom when the door is fully open. We measure this at the survey so there are no surprises.

Insulation, Security and Guarantees

Each section is weatherproof double-skinned steel and can be insulated individually. Combined with the track framework, that gives a much tighter seal than a conventional door, which helps with energy bills if the garage is attached to the house or used as a workshop.

Every component is robust steel and the remote controls are designed to be tamper-proof. All our motor-driven sectional doors have been TuV tested, and the automation carries our own 10-year warranty. Most doors also have a manufacturer’s guarantee of 10 years, and our installation work carries a guarantee of at least five years.
